Genesis Energy is a diversified New Zealand energy company that sells electricity, reticulated natural gas, and LPG through its retail brands of Genesis Energy and Energy Online. It is New Zealand's largest energy retailer with around 500,000 customers.
Genesis Energy was the official energy supplier of the victorious Emirates Team New Zealand for the 36th America's Cup in March 2021
Genesis Energy built a nationwide campaign around the 36th America's Cup by where t-shirts could track through an integrated sensor how much energy was being used by supporters of ETNZ while watching the race and then giving that energy back to local schools.
Our involvement.
Genesis Energy's agency for this project, Shine, approached us desperately with two months to go till this campaign went live as multiple other consultancies which had taken this project over the past year and a half could not deliver. Our task was to create these t-shirts, which were the genesis of the campaign, and we started anew as the proposals by Shine were not possible by any means.
We identified and established the needs of these t-shirts that being performance in nature, a custom fit to allow the sensor to read HR and fusion welding the sensor into the top to allow for no-chafe. We understood the clients' initiatives in other business areas to operate more sustainably, so we sourced Italian recycled polyester. We provided three separate strike-off samples and 100 t-shirts for bulk production in time for the ETNZ races and national filming campaign in two months.
